I agree about the very unfortunate look of the sewn version of B6286. So frumpy. It's a little odd but I think your version would be great if you could find the fabric for it. Earlier this year I made this dress using a pattern from a Dutch sewing magazine from 1966: http://petitmainsauvage.blogspot.nl/2015/08/1966.html
It is not the same dress: The necklines are different, Marion magazine added a bow to the point where the panels meet and the Simplicity dress might be a bit more fitted (hard to judge from drawings) but there is clearly one idea behind both designs.Laurianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16602295642057814667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4823578805242157520.post-984497985920004072015-10-28T22:11:09.912-07:002015-10-28T22:11:09.912-07:00Butterick 6286 – a similar suit, with more stripes...Butterick 6286 – a similar suit, with more stripes was seen on last week's Good Wife. A narrow stripe, 2-1/2 - 3" wide was situated above the pale grey band and then a stripe of about the same width was at the waist. If I remember the sequence from the top, it was black, orange, caramel, white, black with a black skirt. Looked to be made of satin wool or mohair. Stunning. The sleeves were also striped in the same proportions. I don't usually buy vintage patterns but I may have to buy that one.
Vancouver BarbaraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
