Would you like to make this amazing creation for yourself? Well, here is a wonderful behind-the-scenes video from the Dior Atelier for Spring/Summer 2011 that will show you how.
The video was posted on Couture Allure a few months ago, and every time I need a bit of sewing motivation, I watch it again. After doing so, I feel an immediate NEED to get back into the sewing room.
This time around, I grabbed a few screenshots to help me figure out the hip-pads
for my project. There is nothing better
than going to an original source!
If only they had one of these videos for each and every Galliano couture
creation . . . you can be sure I would watch them again and
again!
Can you imagine having the opportunity to wear something
like that!?! I am sitting at my computer drooling - oh wait, that's Tino!
Thanks for posting this inspirational video!
ReplyDeleteI'm supposed to be working today, but now all I want to do is sew! Sew something with pleats! And ragged-edge net!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, incredible. Thanks so much for posting. Certainly inspiring and mouth-watering (those pleats!). Now off to mark pattern pieces with the stitching line - at least a whiff of couture practices there. ;-)

I've seen this video before and it always blows my mind. What really amazes me is that what we see as an ombré fabric is really layers of handsewn tulle. Oh, and isn't it refreshing to see the men working on this creation. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the Dior video. It is so beautifully constructed.
ReplyDeleteAlthough this is my first time to comment here, I have been admiring your work. Your vintage inspired garments are all fabulous.
That's breathtaking... Thank you so much for posting. Wow.. I know what you mean... I just want to sew pleats now and I never sew pleats :)
ReplyDeleteWow. That video is amazing! Looking at that makes me feel like such a puny amateur...
ReplyDeleteI just saw this dress at the ROM in Toronto, Ontario this weekend! Honestly, it wasn't all that impressive in real-life - the amount of time to create it was impressive though! 500 Hours!!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favourite videos: I love this coat so much I made a jacket and dress inspired by it for a wedding (and what a coincidence, I just posted the pictures).
ReplyDeleteThis garment is in the collection of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. It's an amazing garment, and yes, I definitely would wear such a piece of art. Love it!
