Instead of focusing on the dress (which is what I should be
doing), I whipped up a little brooch.
This year’s theme is From Russia with Love, and other than a
bit of beading, my outfit is not exactly Bond Girl appropriate.
But . . . I have quite a few peacock feathers from last year’s gala, and I thought they would be the perfect way to “Bond”-ify my outfit.
And tucked away in a box was a hank of peacock colored beads – it really is amazing how much they look like the real thing! I stitched the three feathers together and onto a bit of felt. The beads were then stitched to the felt.
There are plans for a hat which is in the works, but I am
not sure if it will get finished in time!
Less than a week to go!
[Britex has generously provided the fabric and sewing
supplies for a dress I will be wearing to a formal event in October. I will be
sharing some of the steps and construction techniques with you as I work on
this project over the next couple of months.]
It's terrifically lovely. I adore the seed bead wrap and how well the colours in the wee little beads compliment the classic peacock feathers. Marvelous creation!

Lovely! I can't wait to see your gown!! I just found out that I need another gown for our December event... groan. I'm not ready to face this again!
ReplyDeleteOoh! But it’s another chance to play dress up! Keep the silhouette simple and use a fabulous winter fabric – maybe something metallic?
