Midsummer Sunshine

When I got dressed this morning, I did not realize that today is the longest day of the year and the official start of Summer!

But my subconscious knew what it was doing with this pink floral dress . . .

Midsummer has arrived!  And while I could do without the 80+ degree temperatures, I am thrilled that it is not raining.

Happy Summer Solstice!

Dress:  Made by me, Simplicity 2281
Shoes:  Sacha London
Earrings:  Morning Glory Designs on Etsy
Parasol:  Borrowed from Mom

  1. How romantically, enchantingly beautiful! I really cannot decide which I adore more, your splendidly lovely pink frock, or your immensely terrific hairstyle. Both, as well as your accessories, are sublime!

  2. I love this. So pink, yet so elegant. Perfect for summer.

  3. Pink! Lovely. I'd forgotten it was summer as well. I typically try to post about the upcoming Pantone season on the first day of summer and winter, but I forgot this time around! Maybe that's a sign that I don't actually pay attention to Pantone's predictions?! Also, I was wondering if you were going to the Gaultier Exhibit this Saturday. SunnyGal is organizing a meet up, and I thought it would be fun if you joined, especially considering your knowledge of couture sewing.

    1. Now that I make the majority of my clothes, and do not feel quite as restricted by the “it” colors of a season since I can make whatever I choose, I find myself not as bothered by the whole “color of the year” thing.

And I will admit that corals and tangerines seem like fun at the moment, so maybe I am more of a follower than I thought!?

I will miss you at the De Young by a few days – my mom and I will be going next Thursday – DARN! But thank you for keeping me in the loop, as always! I look forward to hearing all about your adventures, and I will be thinking of you and the group on Saturday.

  4. Wow! Fantastic! I recently got this pattern, and I'm thrilled how 1940s your version is :)

  5. Lovely outfit! I just adore the fabric you used for this dress--so cheerful!

  6. Love the flirty sleeve design - and love that print. Pretty in pink!
