Inked Leaves

I had a feeling that I was going to love this pattern design as soon as I saw it.  What I didn't expect was to make a significant change to the skirt length.

But this print just wanted some additional length; the knee length skirt just didn't feel right to me.

And although I had some initial misgivings when I put the partially finished skirt on my dress form, those box pleats work just fine with the additional length.

Which is not say that a knee length version of this frock will not be added to the queue.

I have also rediscovered that I love the color blue.

For the past few years, I have been working with a whole lot of red.  Don't get me wrong - I will always gravitate towards reds and pinks, but I am getting back to my cool toned roots.

I have already worn this dress quite a few times since finishing it in March.  Classic shirt dress styled designs always look put together with a minimal amount of fuss.

And I am going to make a mental note to make more - because I don't believe that I have enough options in the closet!

The only question is, do I go ahead and make another Simplicity 3034, or do I peruse the pattern stash and try a different design?
