Retro Burda

A couple of months ago I noticed that BurdaStyle patterns were in the JoAnn Fabrics sales flyer.  I found this rather strange, as I had never seen any BurdaStyle patterns in the store.  Well, where the heck have I been?!  While there is only a single pattern drawer devoted to the brand at my local store, there they were.

Not only that, they have a few vintage reproductions!

Since this means that I can avoid the irritation of printing and taping massive amounts of paper together, I am completely on board!

I cut out the fabric for this particular skirt back in September and am just now getting around to making it up.

The directions are quite different than any other contemporary pattern I have come across, but I think that the design is worth the extra translation that was necessary!

I am looking forward to making up another!

  2. I'm in love with these patterns and have been buying them up for a while now. They've just released some new ones for spring! I have this pattern as well but haven't made it up yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing yours!

  3. Adore that sweet, stylish, completely pretty cherry print fabric. I can already tell this skirt is going to look amazing once it's done.

  5. They certainly have been putting out some cool retro patterns. 7248 is a sleek , mid-'50s suit that I'd love to see reviewed!

  6. I found out back in october last year that Burda has a series of this retro inspired patterns. http://justskirtsanddresses.blogspot.nl/2012/10/retro-inspired-printed-burda-patterns.html Bought 2 jacket patterns but due to circumstances haven't made any yet. Wonder how the fit is and if they are really nicely fitted like the drawings show?

    1. Unfortunately, I do not own a single vintage or contemporary burda magazine. This skirt was my first experience with any of their patterns. I would suggest etsy and ebay! Good luck!
