Busy Fingers

This week has been crazy - I cannot believe the weekend is already here!

But I have managed to squeeze in a bit of sewing.  I decided my next project would have to be something that did not require too much fussing, and an old bit of quilting cotton was the perfect fabric for the task.

For some reason I purchased two lengths of this blue print, which means I had enough for Butterick 5748.  It doesn’t get much more basic than three pattern pieces to make a dress!

Of course, I had to go and make things a bit more interesting and add a bit of piping to the waist seam.  There is a zipper and some hand stitching in my future . . .

And I still have not managed to balance blogging with sewing – which explains why things have been quiet around here for the last few days!

  2. Wow, so pretty! Love that delicate yellow piping. Did you make the piping yourself?

    1. Thanks! And yes, I did make the piping out of some old scraps of quilting cotton which matches back to the bow!

  3. This dress is next on my project list! I was going to make Butterick 5605, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out those darned underarm gussets! I was considering drafting a different sleeve, with a simpler gusset, but I will just have to put it away for now.

I really like the fabric choice, by the way.

  5. Lovely, I am making this now, but fount it wasn't as easy as I thought as I had to do many adjustments to make it fit, but it seems to be good now so the next one will be faster :)

  6. It's coming along so beautifully - I just love the serene, yet simultaneously vibrant, pairing of dark blue and buttery yellow.
