Feathered Accessories

Instead of focusing on the dress (which is what I should be doing), I whipped up a little brooch.

This year’s theme is From Russia with Love, and other than a bit of beading, my outfit is not exactly Bond Girl appropriate.

But . . . I have quite a few peacock feathers from last year’s gala, and I thought they would be the perfect way to “Bond”-ify my outfit.

And tucked away in a box was a hank of peacock colored beads – it really is amazing how much they look like the real thing!  I stitched the three feathers together and onto a bit of felt.  The beads were then stitched to the felt.

There are plans for a hat which is in the works, but I am not sure if it will get finished in time!  Less than a week to go!

[Britex has generously provided the fabric and sewing supplies for a dress I will be wearing to a formal event in October. I will be sharing some of the steps and construction techniques with you as I work on this project over the next couple of months.]

  1. It's terrifically lovely. I adore the seed bead wrap and how well the colours in the wee little beads compliment the classic peacock feathers. Marvelous creation!

    1. Ooh! But it’s another chance to play dress up! Keep the silhouette simple and use a fabulous winter fabric – maybe something metallic?
